For this year’s vocation trip, the Rotary Club of Tanglin participated in a unique and once-in-lifetime experience of “Dining behind Bars”, a Yellow Ribbon Fund organized charity event on Nov. 20, 2010. We were treated to 3-hour tour of the infamous Changi Prison and indulged in fine-dining lunch, which was specially prepared by the highly trained inmates.

As we enjoyed in the gastronomic delights, we were also entertained by an a capella group of musically talented inmates. The highlight of the event was a charity auction of beautiful paintings and handicrafts, created by the Changi Prison inmates themselves.

It was a very touching and warm experience as we were able to see what prison life was like and most importantly, that everybody deserves a second chance.
